A large, multi-floor bookstore with a wide selection, the American Book Center will have just about any English-language book you might be looking for. They carry a nice variety of titles in all genres, and also sell magazines, games, maps and newspapers. If you are looking for something they don’t have in stock, it is possible to order it.

Boekhandel Taurus
A nice neighbourhood bookshop with a fairly typical selection, Taurus sells mainly Dutch books, but does have foreign language sections, with some English classics and pot boilers. They also have some nice travel books and books about Holland, dictionaries, magazines, and more.

Boekhandel Centaur
A good all-round bookstore, Centaur features many genres of books, and has a particuarly good literature section. There are many books by Dutch authors, as well as foreign classics that have been translated into Dutch. The foreign language section is small, but there are some travel guides, dictionaries and maps that will be of interest to tourists.

Nayler & Co Modern Antiquariaat
This is a special store that sells new books and CDs at sharply reduced prices, as well as some rare books. The books have been carefully selected by the owners, and you will be sure to find some interesting ones. Many of the bargain books are reduced by 50 - 70%, and some even more.
