Stadsschouwburg
This is Utrecht’s main and most serious theatre and features a wide range of theatrical productions, as well as many dance performances and some opera. All of the plays are generally in Dutch and include classic dramas, comedies, and contemporary theatre. You can also see circus acts and musicals here, performed by both Dutch and international troupes. The theatre takes care to present a varied, artistically interesting programme each season.

Schiller Theater Place Royale
An exciting theatre offering a varied programme including cabaret, plays, dance, and music, the Schiller Theater is a great place to see some contemporary Dutch productions. The plays are mainly modern and experimental, there are some fun improv acts, and popular cabaret acts are also featured.
