Muziekcentrum Vredenburg
This is Utrecht’s most famous and impressive concert venue, which is currently undergoing a dramatic transformation. Most of it is now closed for renovation, but soon it will reopen as the new ‘Muziekpaleis’ with five concert halls inside, suitable for all conceivably musical genres. There will be a main hall as well as a chamber music hall, a pop hall, a “cross-over hall,” and a jazz hall. The old main hall will remain unchanged during the renovation, and its acoustics are some of the best in the world for 20th century music halls.
Sint Pieterskerk
Located in a quiet, tree-lined area of the city not far from the central station, the St. Pieterskerk is the oldest church in the old town and is also very often used as a classical music venue. It is the home performance space of the Dutch Kamerkoor (chamber choir), and is used for a wide range of early music concerts, as well as later classical and contemporary music. The acoustics are very good here for chamber music as well as larger ensembles.

This grand cathedral is one of the most famous landmarks in Utrecht, located right in the middle of town. It is used for a wide variety of concerts, mainly classical, and ranging from large choir performances to intimate chamber music. A concert agenda can be found on the cathedral website.

SJU Jazzpodium
This jazz venue is one of the best and most well-known in this region of the Netherlands. Every year more than 200 jazz concerts are held here, from classic bop to fusion and contemporary jazz. People come here for the quality of the music and not for the service or the ambiance, however, and the SJU proudly remains a dive where the jazz is what matters.
Theater Kikker
Primarily a theatre and dance venue, Theater Kikker is now also hosting more concerts than usual while the Vredenburg hall is renovated. Particularly during music festivals such as the Early Music Festival, this theater has concerts happening every day. There are also several concerts later in the season of contemporary music, electronic music and more. A full agenda of events can be found on the theater website.
