This is a large, classic department store located within the Hoog Catharijne shopping mall. V&D sells just about everything, specializing in clothing and household items such as bedding, kitchen, and bath articles. The clothing departments are extensive, with everything from sleepwear to suits, as well as shoes, accessories, and more, all from a variety of high-quality brands.

Hema
This is a very practical, down-to-earth store where you can find just about anything, all at reasonable prices. They sell all kinds of household products, from cookingware to curtains, as well as office supplies, bedding, decorative items for the home, jewellery, and clothing. The quality of everything tends to be high, though the clothing is very basic and generally not at all stylish. They have cute baby and toddler clothes, though.
