Valencia has an exciting nightlife, with many different areas and neighbourhoods that are bustling after dark. Areas with many nightlife activites to choose from include Paseo de Neptuno by the beach, Barrio del Carmen, and Calle Alta. The beach has a very festive late-night scene in the warm months, but is of course much quiter at other times of year.
If you plan to go bar hopping, the Calle Alta is a great place to start, as is the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Once you are on one of these streets or squares, you will notice little, out-of-they way bars or pubs that might not have clear signs. Sometimes these are some of the best or the most interesting. Many bars have live music in the evenings, and there are also frequent late-night performances in concert venues and clubs. The club scene is varied, with something for everyone in clubs that range from preppy and sophisticated to utterly unpretentious. A good publication to consult about nightlife activities while in Valencia is Qué y Dónde, available at any newsstand or tourist office.
