Palau de la Música
Known for its excellent acoustic, the Palau de la Música ranks among the most important classical music venues in Europe. It is a very modern building, built in 1987 and designed by architect José María Paredes. One of its unique and distinctive features is the large glass enclosure over the structure, making it look like a greenhouse. The hall is located within the Turia gardens, and there are also many plants indoors, including palm trees. The Palau de la Música is home to the Orchestra of Valencia, one of the most prestigious groups in the area, and many visiting groups perform here every season, from large orchestras and choirs to more intimate chamber music concerts.

Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia
A large concert venue made up of four separate halls, The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia puts on a wide variety of concerts and opera productions. The complex is part of the new City of Arts and Sciences, and was opened in 2006. It is well-equiped as a theatre and includes the lastest technologies, allowing for performances of virtually any kind of contemporary music. One hall is dedicated exclusively to chamber music and early music, however. The Reina Sofia is best known for its opera, and a number of shows are put on each year, from sumptuous classic operas to modern minimalistic ones. Placido Domingo organized a famous opera singers’ competition here the year that the complex opened, which has done much for its reputation as an opera house.
