There are numerous historical cafés, meeting points, restaurants, banks, hotels and governmental buildings in the city. Public gardens offer a fantastic view over the Grand Harbour. The Manoel Theatre in the Old Theatre Street was built by António Manoel de Vilhena and has performances since 1732. It belongs to the oldest theatres of Europe and is specialized on classical arts but also stages poetry, jazz and folk.
Each third weekend in July there is the annual Jazz festival in front of the historic city walls close to the Grand Harbour. In three days international artists perform each evening in this marvellous atmosphere.
