Museo del 700 Veneziano Ca’ Rezzonico (Museum of 18th century Venice)
A visit to this palace that was converted into a museum provides an opportunity to peek into the lives of Venetian nobles during the 18th century. On June 2001 the museum was reopened after a long period of renovation work. This elegant palace was built in 1649 by Baldassarre Longhena and was completed only in 1750 by Giorgio Massari.
The museum hosts a varied collection of furniture, tapestries, period paintings and works by Tiepolo, Canaletto, Carriera and Guardi.

Ca’ d’Oro
This Venetian golden palace received its name as in the past its façade was covered with pure gold. Unfortunately, the gold has faded long ago and now the façade is white and pink. Marino Contarini, as a gift for his beloved wife, created the exquisite Gothic palace in 1434. After having many owners during the years, finally the palace was given to the city as a gift. Nowadays it is also known as Galleria Franchetti and is filled with wonderful periodic paintings, sculptures, antiquities, Flemish and Dutch art.

Collezione Peggy Guggenheim (Peggy Guggenheim Collection)
The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is one of the main attractions of Venice and is considered to be one of the most important museums in Italy for American and European art of the first half of the 20th century. The wealthy American heiress gathered her collection between 1938 and 1947 and helped to promote artists like Jackson Pollock, Max Ernst (whom she married) and others. The impressive collection includes works by Picasso, Kandinsky, Dali and Magritte.
The museum is located in Peggy Guggenheim home, Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, on the Grand Canal, where she used to live between 1949 and 1979.

Galleria dell’Accademia
One of Europe’s great museums hosts a large collection of oil paintings by Venetian artists from the 13th through the 18th centuries. The museum is housed in the former church of Santa Maria della Carita and displays the biggest collection in the world of works all by Venetian masters.
The exhibition includes masterpieces by Giorgione, Titian, Tintoretto, Gentile, Longhi, Canaletto and many more.
Not to be missed.

Museo Storico Navale and Arsenale (Naval History Museum)
The Naval History Museum exhibits a wide collection of canons, nautical instruments, period gondolas and ship models that explain the Italian navy’s history. The highlight of the collection is a replica of the doge’s ceremonial boat, the Bucintoro.
The museum also displays an impressive seashell collection that was donated to it by Roberta da Camerino.
