Pizzeria al Vecio Canton
Although it is a little difficult to find this restaurant, the fabulous pizzas are worth the effort. The restaurant is located in a northeast corner behind Piazza San Marco. The specialty of the place is without no doubt the pizza, but you can also find here many other Venetian dishes, meat, seafood, desserts and a nice wine collection.

Al Paradiso Perduto
This trendy place usually fills up at night with a young and vibrant crowd. While having a dinner of tasty pasta or lamb chops with avocado, you can enjoy live bands play here. The kitchen is fusion with interesting dishes and the wine list is quite good.

Al Covo
This is definitely one of the best restaurants in town and is extremely popular among American food lovers. The small and welcoming restaurant is decorated with 1960 s paintings and Murano lamps. The food is considered to be excellent and it is wise to follow the owner’s recommendations on the catch of the day. The fish and seafood is super fresh and there is a wide selection of good wines.

Al Gondolieri
This welcoming restaurant is located near the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and serves mainly meat dishes. You can find here delicious dishes such as stewed chicken with polenta, pork fillet with baby artichokes, duck breast with apples and onions, gnocchi and white truffles. The wine list is pretty good with over than 250 labels of Italian wine.

Locanda Cipriani
This simple but elegant restaurant is located on the island of Torcello and is very famous as one of Ernest Hemingway’s favourite places. He used to come here quite often to dine and enjoy the tranquillity of the lagoon. The food is not exquisite, but the prices are pretty high as to its beautiful location and its fame factor. The menu includes pastas, a nice variety of seafood, veal and baked orata with potatoes.
Reservations are essential.
Closed on Tuesdays and during January.

Ristorante Gran Caffe Quadri
Caffe Quadri has been serving the Venetians since the 18th century with a lot of elegancy and excellent food. The restaurant is set on the second floor with a great view of Piazza San Marco. Some good dishes are saddle of rabbit with ham and shallots glazed in balsamic vinegar, ravioli with veal and white truffle sauce, home made pasta with lobster sauce and baby spinach and caramel crème brulee with passion fruit sauce and pistachio wafer.

Enoteca la Mascareta
If you are looking to hang out in a trendy and young restaurant, this is the place to go to. The place opens only at 6 pm but doesn’t close until past midnight and the crowd is young students and professionals.
The food is light and casual such as cichetti and a fine selection of cured meat, local cheeses and crostini.

Antico Martini
This is definitely one of the most top and elegant restaurants in Venice. It was established in 1720 as a café in a historic mansion. In 1792 it became one of the favourite places among artists and intellectuals. Nowadays it is the perfect place for a Venetian romantic dinner especially at the outdoors tables during summer. The food is exquisite with salmon rolls filled with caviar and sour cream, risotto with seafood and homemade tagliatelle with prawn and arugula.
Reservations are essential and the prices are relatively high.

Cantina do Mori
Cantino do Mori has been serving the workers of the Rialto market since 1462 and is a perfect place for a light lunch or for a snack. While standing up they will serve you fresh combinations of thinly sliced fish, meat, vegetables and cheeses. There is also a limited choice of first courses such as tramezzini, baccala and lightly fried artichoke hearts. The wine collection offers about 600 labels, available also by the glass.

Vino Vino
Right next to the expensive restaurant Antico Martini, is this fine wine bar that serves Venetian cuisine and snacks at low prices. It is also the perfect place to try some of the 350 wine labels served also by the glass. Service is friendly and patient and food runs out at about 10.30 pm, so make sure not to arrive too late.
