By air
Venice is served by Marco Polo International Airport, located only 12 km (7 miles) from the city. This is one of the busiest airports in Italy and it serves national flights as well as International flights.
Getting to Venice from Marco Polo Airport is easy. There is a bus connection service from the airport to Piazzale Roma square, which is only 10 minutes on foot from Venice – Santa Lucia railway station.
Another option to reach Venice from Marco Polo Airport is by motorboats. The ride takes longer than the bus, but the motorboat drops passengers off at St. Marks square and the view is beautiful.

By train
Trenitalia runs trains to Venice from Rome, Milan and Florence in Italy, and also international trains from other destinations in Europe. Most trains arrive at Venice – Santa Lucia station in Venice itself, but some trains arrive at Mestre, located on the mainland. If arriving at Mestre, passengers must take a shuttle to Venice that leaves every 10 minutes.

By car
Cars are not allowed in Venice as a strict rule. Arriving to Venice by car is expensive and inconvenient. The last point where one can reach with a car is Piazzale Roma, where you must park your car in one of the many garages in the area. During the high season, many parking garages are full and pretty pricy.
The main highway that leads to Venice from Milan, is the A4, which has a high speed limit of 130 kph (81 mph). The A4 intersects with the A13 from Bologna and with the A1 from Florence, Rome and Naples.
