Museum of Historic Art
The worldwide known gallery of theMuseum of Historic Art hosts works from Rembrandt, Dürer, Rubens, Breughel, Raffael and many other masters of the 15th – 17th century. The coin cabinet, an Egyptian collection and an Antique collection are part of the museum. A huge amount of the collection is exposed in the Hofburg. Transport: Badenberger Str., Volkstheater

Museum for Applied Art
The Museum for Applied Art was built at the edn of the 19th century by Heinrich Ferstel. Since the construction in 1989 Peter Noever has made the museum to a meeting place of different styles which can be seen in extraordinary rooms. The exposition of the designer and artists of the 20th century is also very big. The museum is not only for people interested in art and architecture a must. House of Music
The House of Music was opened in 2000 and is the first Museum of Sounds in the world. Music is introduced by using modern interactive and multimedia presentations – from the beginning of the human creation of sounds to the music of our time. The House was founded by Stefan Seigner and is hosted in the Palais Erzherzog Carl.

Vienna Museum Karlsplatz
The Vienna Museum has a special position in the cultural environment of Vienna. It presents the history of the city through the centuries within a broad art and historic collection. You can view precious art treasures which spray the atmosphere and the myth of the city. The main museum at the Karlsplatz is connected to a couple of small houses, for example die Hermesvilla in the Lainzer Tiergarten and the musician’s flats. They have changing exhibitions dealing with news as well as the past of Vienna and other bigger cities. A special focus lies on 19th century works, selected furniture, clothing and precious applied arts. Shown is also the reconstructed flat of the important Austrian poet Franz Grillparzer including a lot of original furniture and paintings of Waldmüller, Amerling, Danhauser or Fendi which give a detailed view on the Vienna Biedermeier.

Natural History Museum
This museum belongs to the ten best museums of the world. The earliest collections are dated more than 250 years back. Today about 20 million objects are scientifically overseen, most of them still in their original state. The collection is hosted by a pompous building and the interplay of the magnificent steady growing collection and the building create a cultural historic treasure. Famous and irreplaceable exhibits like the “Venus of Willendorf”, huge skeletons of saurians or the extinct Stellersche manatee are the highlights of the museum. In 39 rooms you can experience a contemporary presentation with modern techniques without a loss of the historic structure.

Collection Leopold
The collection of Rudolf and Elisabeth Leopold belongs to the most important collection in the world. It is a mixture of Viennese Secessionism, Viennese modernity and the Austrian expressionism. The collection contains 5000 exhibits. Among them works of Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka, Richard Gerstl, paintings and graphics of Anton Faistauer, Anton Kolig and Alfred Kubin as well as 19th century works of Friedrich Gauermann, August von Pettenkofen and Emil Jakob Schindler. Genuine objects from Africa and Oceania as well as old Chinese and Japanese art completes the collection.

Technical Museum Vienna
On 22.000 m² you get an insight into the technical world. Experience technical developments from the past to the recent present! Texts, movies and experiments show the interplay of technical modern comforts and culture, economics and society. The multimedia presentation makes it possible for all visitors to get an individual insight and to experience the museum in a personal way. Apart from the exhibitions in the museum itself you can have a closer look on technical developments by checking the Austrian Mediathek and the train museum Strasshof.

Heeresgeschichtliches Museum
This museum shows exhibits of the history of the Austrian military, especially paintings, photography, uniforms, models of battleships, weapons and documents. Apart from special exhibitions they also show the history of the Habsburg Monarchy and the destiny of Austria between 1918 and 1945. WW II is depicted by an artistic documentation of the topic Stalingrad. The most important and most famous exhibit is without doubt the automobile of Gräf & Stift in which Duke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated within the Assassination of Sarajevo.
