Zum Basilisken
The restaurant is situated in a legendary middle-class house in the romantic Schönlaterngasse. The Basilik used to be a dragon, which lived in 1212 in the well and killed a lot of people by using his poisonous features. This beast died long time ago because a mirror was put in front of him and showed him his cruelties. He was frightened by his own appearance and died.

The restaurant is a typical Vienna “Beisl” with rustic interior made of wood, glass, fine metals and figure ornaments. Here you can eat like in grandmother’s times: Tafelspitz, onion roast, goulash or pancakes. The large menu also comes up with a weekly offer including seasonal specialities and a daily dish. Besides you can find a wide range of international and national wines and drinks.

A young and fresh cuisine in Mediterranean style is what makes Ella’s so special. Light starters like couscous salad or fine chopped aubergine marinated in chilli oil make your mouth watery. So open your mind and go on a journey of culinary pleasures.
