Public Transport
The public transportation in Vienna is embedded in the VOR (“Verkehrsbund Ost Region”) which includes the zone 100. Within this zone you can use one ticket. Lower Austria and the Burgenland are part of the VOR. Depending on distance and region the VOR is divided into different zones which can be found in a special table. The public transportation include metro lines, trams (BIM), busses, the WLB (Vienna Local lines) consisting of busses and trains, and the PV AG, a company of the ÖBB, including S-Bahn and busses.

by metro
There are 5 metro lines which can be seen as the backbone of the public transportation. No transport is faster and more reliable than the Vienna metro. At the moment the net is about 61 km wide. Information monitors present the terminal station as well as the waiting time for the coming metro line. All lines commute between 5 am and 0.30 pm.
The lines are as follows: U1 (red line) direction “Reumannplatz-Kagran”, U2 (violet line) direction “Karlsplatz - Schottenring”, U3 (orange line) direction “Ottakring – Simmering”, U4 (green line) direction “Hütteldorf - Heiligenstadt”, U6 (brown line) direction “Siebenhirten – Floridsdorf”.

by tram
Vienna possesses the biggest tram network in Austria. The 33 lines are well connected to the metro and S-Bahn system. Some lines already use low floor trams others the old traditional ones. Trams go nearly every 2-3 minutes, in the evening they commute every 10 minutes. On Saturdays and Sundays it takes up to 7 / 8 minutes between departures. Trams go between 5 am and 0.30 am. The stops are characterised by red signs. Time tables and a map of the lines are shown at every stop. Some even have info desks showing when a tram is departing.

by bus
The busses are most of the time low floor busses which belong to the ÖBB and Dr. Richard. Busses usually have the same intervals as trams. Normal is a waiting time of 10 to 15 minutes. Bus stops are shown with blue signs. Pictograms show maps of the lines and time tables.

Nightline
The nightline busses go between 0.30 pm and 5 am. The cross point is the opera on the Karlsplatz. Most of the lines go around the ring before commuting to their final destination. The busses are adjusted to each other at this cross point. During the week they usually have a different schedule than at the weekend.
