Barakuda
This venue is actually a sailing club, but is best known for its jamming rock and blues performances, as well as the occasional sea chanty night. Also be aware that Monday night is devoted to poetry readings. The décor is very nautical, and you almost forget that Warsaw is actually 370 km from the sea.

Grand Theatre
This is Warsaw’s biggest, most famous theatre, and it is home to most of the major artistic events in the city, including concerts, operas, plays and dance performances. The theatre was built between 1825 and 1833 and is a large, neo-classical structure that seats almost 2,000 in the main hall. There are also two smaller stages within.

Warsaw Philharmonic Hall
This concert hall was founded in 1901 by a group of patriotic aristocrats hoping to enrich Warsaw’s musical and cultural life. The venue soon became one of the most prestigious in Europe, and maintains its high reputation today with a varied and international programme every season. Many great orchestras and other kinds of groups from all over the world perform here regularly, and the hall is also home to the Chopin Piano Competition and other important events.

Narodowy
This is Warsaw’s “National Theatre,” which is primarily used for operas and plays. It is well known as an opera venue, home of the Polish Opera, and also brings many great international companies to perform here every year. The drama programme is also very good, presenting a variety of classic Polish plays as well as Shakespeare, Pinter and some contemporary works.

Studio Buffo
This venue is run by two Polish stars of the music and theatre scene: famous pianist and composer Janusz Stoklosa and prominent actor Janusz Jozefowicz. The performances here are mainly musical, and the programme is diverse, including gypsy evenings, musicals, Elvis nights, and a variety of performances by individual folk, pop and jazz stars.
