by air
The closest airport to Weimar is the Airport Erfurt-Bindersleben (25 km). From here planes mainly depart to the South and to the East of Europe. Bigger airports are the Airport Leipzig (120 km) and the Airport Frankfurt (300 km). A small aiport is located in Weimar-Umpferstedt which is available for aviation up to 2 t in total weight.

 
 
by train
Weimar has two train stations, the main train station in the city centre and the station „Berkaer Bahnhof“ and four stops: Oberweimar, Weimar West, Nohra and Legefeld.
Weimar is one of the most important stations in Thuringia. The following ICE trains go through Weimar:

Frankfurt am Main – Eisenach – Weimar – Leipzig – Dresden
Düsseldorf – Paderborn – Bebra – Eisenach – Weimar
Eisenach – Berlin (Hamburg)

The night trains are maintained by the CNL lines „Andromeda“ from and to Nuremberg – Stuttgart, „Semper“ from and to Frankfurt am Main – Mannheim – Karlsruhe – Freiburg – Basel- Zurich and the line „Orion“ from and to Augsburg – Munich.

by car
When going by car to Weimar you can use the A4 which has a direct connection in the district of Gelmeroda. Furthermore the highways B7 and B85 are crossing over here.

exit Jena 20 km
from the Wartburg close by Eisenach 75 km

Highway A9 Berlin- Munich 30 km from Hermsdorfer Kreuz
