            | | Portugal: why not? |
                    | | 1. Do you think every Portuguese woman has a moustache? 2. Do you think all portuguese men have a huge belly? 3. Do you think Portugal is a 3rd world country? In which world do you live?
 1. Portugal has some of the most beautiful women in the world (though some still have the traditional moustache).
 2. Portugal has some of the most handsome men in the world (though many of them still have the “elegant” belly but, guess what, our wine and beer are just too good... and who says a belly is unattractive?).
 3. Portugal isn’t one of the most important and prosperous countries in Europe, but we are trying to get there (maybe slower then we wish ... but that’s just the way we are!).

We tend to live in the past, lost in the glories of our ancestors, who we proudly remember for giving “new worlds to the world”. That’s why “Fado” and “Saudade” are the most important words of our vocabulary. But if you think Portugal is only about this, just take a look:

Like the old days, when we gave great sailors to the world, we are now “giving away” all kinds of people: writers (never heard of Saramago?), poets (or the unique Fernando Pessoa?), painters (Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso? Paula Rego?), musicians (Amália Rodrigues? Mariza? Madredeus?).

But that´s not all: we are also “giving away” awesome landscapes (from the northern mountains to the southern plains, from the hilly interior to the more than 800 km of Atlantic coast); a fantastic gastronomy (you must definitely try the “Pastéis de Belém” or any piece of “conventual” pastry and, of course, the “Bacalhau”, which the Portuguese are credited to know how to cook in 1001 different ways); and warm people, ready to take you in their homes and lifes, put ting a special meaning to the word hospitality.

So, what are you waiting for? You have a date with one of the most fabulous destinations you will ever know. Portugal awaits you. Don’t be late!
