Spectacular News: Ciel Bleu Restaurant
Hotel Okura Amsterdam
Amsterdam, Netherlands

Amsterdam, 18 September 2007 - The French Ciel Bleu Restaurant on the 23rd floor of Hotel Okura Amsterdam recently opened its doors again, after large-scale renovations. Guests can once more enjoy a Star dinner while enjoying a view of
Amsterdam. Well-known architect Bert Verweij has created a restaurant where every place offers a breathtaking view of Amsterdam. As a result of the renovation and the use of plenty of glass and various shades of brown, the Ciel Bleu Restaurant has acquired a more luxurious, warm and modern atmosphere. This atmosphere matches the preparation and presentation of the dishes by Star chef Onno Kokmeijer’s mysterious kitchen.

From now, guests enter through the lounge, where they are received by Service Manager Pasquinel Kolk and Sommelier Noël Vanwittenbergh and can take a peek at the menu while enjoying an aperitif. Behind the scenes some far-reaching renovations were also done. With the creation of the Chef’s Table a long-time dream has come true for Onno Kokmeijer. Guests can now literally watch the Executive Chef & Manager in action. The Chef’s Table, which is made of solid white marble, is actually in the kitchen itself. Thanks to its U-shape, the Chef is now literally standing among his guests, serving his own dishes. The table is surrounded by nine white leather chairs on a black marble floor. The space is decorated with cherry-wood cabinets and on the wall are framed photographs from the recently published Ciel Bleu book. Guests do not only have a view of the kitchen brigade that way, but also a panoramic view of Amsterdam.

Twenty Third, the cocktail and lounge bar on the 23rd floor of Hotel Okura Amsterdam that was opened last May, also offers a view of the capital. According to Perswijn and the Champagne Information Centre this champagne and cocktail bar offers the best champagne menu in the Netherlands. Every night, both staying guests and guests from outside are welcome here to enjoy champagne from this renowned menu.

About the Ciel Bleu Restaurant:
The Michelin Star-awarded Ciel Bleu Restaurant is known for its idiosyncratic approach to classical French cuisine. The 2007 Gault Millau Guide awarded the restaurants 15 points. The hotel’s traditional Japanese restaurant, Yamazato, is also the holder of a Michelin Star. This makes Hotel Okura Amsterdam the only hotel in Europe to have been awarded Michelin Stars for two very different kitchens. In addition, the brigade of Le Camelia Brasserie was awarded a Bib Gourmand.
