 | Chinese tourists boycott France |
|
France seems to have fallen off the travel programme of Chinese tourists, after the French’s pro-Tibet protests and the angry demonstrations against the Olympic torch in Paris.
For years France has been attracting newly prosperous Chinese which flocked Parisian department stores for French luxury goods. In 2007 about 700.000 Chinese tourists travelled to France. But since the above mentioned incident advice was given to the Chinese traveller to stay away from France. Although Beijing''s municipal authorities deny an open boycott, it is clear that people were warned to take care of their personal safety. Tour operators were told to delete France from their brochures and catalogues, therefore French tour operators expect a 50% drop off in business.
