 | World''s first sand hotel opens in England |
 |
Sleeping on a bed made of sand is now possible in Dorset, England where the world’s first sand hotel opened its doors to the public. The 1000 tonne sand castle was built by four sculptors in one week and offers a double room and a twin room, both with an open roof to watch the stars. A night at the gigantic sand sculpture costs € 13 ($21 /£10) a night. Guest, however, should be aware that the hotel has no toilet facilities and that the sand could be disturbing as it sticks to skin and belongings. The special hotel was commissioned by the UK website LateRooms.com after finding out in a research that about 57% of the UK’s holiday-makers prefer British seaside resorts over foreign destinations.
Of course there is a big disadvantage. If it rains, what happens quite often on England’s coast, the hotel is washed away. So, hopefully this new invention lasts the whole British summer so that as many people as possible can enjoy a night under the open sky.
