 | No free cancellation for Turkey travellers |
 |
Despite the latest bomb attacks in Istanbul, holidaymakers who have booked a vacation in Turkey cannot cancel their reservation for free. Experts are commenting the events by pointing out that one bombing attack does fall under the force majeure clause and therefore does not justify free cancellations.
People who have booked a round trip through Turkey with a stop in Istanbul are not allowed to cancel their booking without paying a cancellation fee. According to travel experts there is no danger in touristy areas. This case changes only when the Department for Foreign Affairs gives a warning to travel to the mentioned regions.
Since two bombs exploded in the European part of Istanbul on the 27.07.2008 vacationers are afraid to visit the Turkish metropolis in particular and Turkey in general. Experts, however, don’t see any risk for people who have booked a holiday on the beach. And despite common public concerns about travels to Istanbul, they claim that the city is relatively safe. This doesn’t count for the Eastern provinces of Turkey where the risk of attacks, assault and abduction of especially individual travellers is quite high. Holliday-makers who are sceptical about their journey should contact their travel agents and ask for a possibility to change their travel without being charged.
