Rua da Silveirinha nº 1, 7330-125
The House
Situated on an impressive escarpment, the medieval village of Marvão offers all those who visit it a breathtaking view that stretches as far as Serra da Estrela and Spain. According to José Saramago (the 1998 Nobel Prize winner for literature), “From Marvão one can see the entire country”. Coming into the village through Portas de Ródão, Casa da Silveirinha is straight ahead, on the right-hand side. Framed by the rocky walls that lead up to the castle on one side and the vast view of the surrounding countryside on the other, the house offers all those who stay there the sensation of going back in time and becoming a sentinel on guard at the entrance to the village.
