The Glasgow International Comedy Festival rapidly established itself after its foundation in 2002. Each year it features nearly 200 events in venues allover the city, with stand-up comedians, sketch shows, comedy film and drama, workshops, talks and events for kids.
Opening the 2007 festival, sponsored for the first time by Magners Irish Cider, is TV comic of the moment Russell Brand, who appears at the Carling Academy on 10 & 11 March. Also already announced are Frankie Boyle (Carling Academy, 23 March) and Jimmy Carr (Clyde Auditorium in the Scottish Exhibition and Convention Centre, 24 March). Also on the bill this year are Alan Carr, Gary Moir''s tribute to early Billy Connolly classics Big Yin Revisited, Jason Byrne, Jeremy Hardy, Phil Kay, Rich Hall, Sean Hughes, Stewart Lee and Sue Perkins, as well as a full children''s programme and many more.
