Laid out over three floors, Hotel Corona d'Italia is housed in an nineteenth-century palace with clean and pleasing lines. Its interior, decorated with beautiful Florentine ceramics and elegant stucco cornices, are large and light-filled. Only steps from the Santa Maria Novella train station, Hotel Corona d'Italia boasts a privileged position in the heart of the San Lorenzo district, which for centuries has been the crossroads of the commercial and artistic cultures in Florence. Overlooking the via dell'Ariento, the hotel is the ideal place to stay for those interested in the true traditions of Tuscan cuisine. In fact, along the pedestrian street across from the Mercato Centrale (Central Market), is a host of grocers, butchers, fishmongers and florists. In this area you can find some of the most well-stocked shops in Florence where even take-out food is available, including specialties such as roast pork, lampredotto (boiled beef intestines) and tripe. A few steps from the hotel is the San Lorenzo monument, official church and burial place of the Medici family, whose creators include Michelangelo, Brunelleschi, Donatello and others.
