Brussels has a varied shopping scene and you can find a wide selection of high quality goods here. Its generally not a very cheap city to shop in, but there are many affordable places alongside the more exclusive ones. Some main shopping districts in the city centre include the areas around Place Stephanie and Grand Sablon, and the Avenue Louise and Boulevard Waterloo area features designer shops and boutiques, while the Rue Nueve has mostly international chain stores. Outside of the centre, it is best to head to the areas around Uccle, St Gilles and Ixelles for shopping. Brussels is known for its good markets, and pretty much every neighbourhood has its own specialty. In addition to produce markets there is the bird market, flower market, antique market, horse market, and a number of flea markets. Wonderful food and produce can be bought at the markets, and many farmers from nearby areas come to sell their deliciously fresh wares.
