            | | Superclub! Bodrum |
                    | | France have St. Tropez. The United States have Miami and L.A. And Turkey? Well, Turkey has something that is more expensive than all places: Türkbükü - Bodrum! For the last couple of years this place carries the name where all the Turkish stars, playboys and celebrities meet the rich upper-class and mingle. So, just when you think you can play with your nose or with something else without disturbing anybody, you will get caught up by the Paparazzi.

Bodrum is where decadence meets nightlife, where tourists meet fake Gucci''s and Versace''s. Where snobby rich people meet each other and try to impress each other by spending eight times the price for a bottle of Vodka. And between all these so called society people the world famous known Supperclub (from Amsterdam) opened its doors in a small village nearby Bodrum called Göltürkbükü. Actually Supperclub Bodrum has no door, because it''s mainly a Beach club that turns into a restaurant and Club Dancing as the sun goes down. It became truly a beautiful place to hang out with your friends. At least, it became something else than people are used to in this area. But the main question here is: "Are the people in Turkey waiting for an alternative art-related funky restaurant that is known as a place of freedom where everything is a surprise?
My answer is: Yes and No.

Yes, the guests like the interior and yes, they like the music and the ambiance. But when it comes to food and customer service the Turkish elite wants to get carried on a big plate. Like in the old days of the Roman Empire: Julius Caesar style. It seems to be that they are not waiting for a surprise that comes in a four course fixed menu. As the Turkish people explain to me; “Damak tadı farkı var.”

In appropriate English we would say ‘there is a difference in the taste of our tongues.’ So what they mean is that there is a difference in taste between the European and the Turkish tongue when it comes to food. Could that be the reason why Supperclub is not doing well during dinnertime in the evenings? Or has it something to do with the fact that Turkey’s tourism has decreased this year? Everything seems to be a conflict in Turkey. On one hand it is a modern country with its own Riviera, but on the other hand there are so many differences to the European lifestyle. The biggest confrontations are actually in the small things. Therefor I would proposal, if the EU wants to solve the Turkish question it has to start with the tongue first.

Meanwhile, I’m enjoying my time here at Supperclub. The weather is beautiful and the food is excellent. Those who carry both nationalities are the ones who complain the less!
